On May 21, the German government announced that it would reduce air traffic taxes to the level of May 2024, effective July 1, in an effort to boost the aviation industry.
International airlines have long complained about the high cost of flights to and from German airports and threatened to reduce their operations in Germany.
The tax will decrease by €2.50 per ticket for short-haul flights, €6.33 for medium-haul flights, and €11.40 for long-haul flights.
This move is expected to cost the German government approximately €170 million in the second half of this year, and €355 million for the entire year
