Civil Aviation Resource Network November 6, 2022: The pilots of Kenya Airways in Africa went on strike on Saturday (November 5), resulting in the cancellation of more than 20 flights and affecting nearly 10,000 passengers.
Reuters reported that the strike, which began at 6 a.m. local time, will affect business and leisure travelers in one of Africa's most important aviation hubs.
The Kenya Airways Pilots Association (KALPA) said the company's management refused to listen to their advice on how to address members' grievances. The association has said it is prepared to strike over issues such as pension contributions.
"So far, about 10,000 passengers have been affected, and if this situation continues, it will have a serious impact on other economic sectors, tourism," said Kenyan Transport Minister Mokmen.
