Schiphol Airport stated on January 9th, "We have been dealing with winter snow and ice for the past week. We are working with airlines and many partners to do everything we can to help more passengers get on their journeys. Our snowplows have been working tirelessly, and we have also deployed additional staff to answer passenger inquiries and provide meals."

Schiphol Airport reminded passengers that, given the ongoing winter weather, "you should consider the possibility of flight delays."

Since January 2nd, continuous snowfall, icing, and strong winds have severely impacted Schiphol Airport. Storm Anna brought strong winds on January 2nd and 3rd, followed by snowfall from January 4th to 7th, and again on January 9th. Since January 2nd, Schiphol Airport has cancelled approximately 3,600 flights.

According to Flightradar24, Schiphol Airport cancelled 345, 384, 569, 711, 563, and 686 flights respectively from January 2nd to 7th.

Since January 2nd, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, the main carrier based at Schiphol Airport, has been consuming approximately 85,000 liters of de-icing fluid daily, an unusually high consumption. Simultaneously, supply chain delays led to a critical shortage of de-icing fluid.
