Civil Aviation Resources Network, March 21, 2025: According to foreign media reports, Southwest Airlines is laying off employees at four major airports in California and Maryland, the latest austerity measure in the company's restructuring process.

According to Southwest Airlines, the company plans to lay off 120 ground and front-line supply employees at four international hubs, including Hollywood Burbank Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, San Jose Mineta International Airport, and Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport.

Southwest Airlines spokesman Chris Perry said in a statement: "Based on the current flight schedule and the moderate growth plan for 2025, we need to adjust the staffing of these four airports. We are always committed to minimizing the impact on employees and ensuring that all affected employees have the opportunity to continue to stay at Southwest Airlines."

In February of this year, Southwest Airlines announced that it would lay off 1,750 employees across the company. In addition, last year the company also laid off staff at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Chicago O'Hare International Airport to optimize operational efficiency.
