Storm Ashley causes massive flight cancellations in Ireland

Civil Aviation Resources Network, October 21, 2024: According to foreign media reports, due to the impact of Storm Ashley, Aer Lingus canceled all flights departing from Manchester Airport.

Flights to Ireland and Northern Ireland had to be canceled as the storm hit the northern region. The Manchester Evening News reported that due to the storm, Aer Lingus canceled flights to Dublin, the capital of Ireland, and Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Aer Lingus issued a statement on its website saying that the storm may continue to affect flights to and from Ireland on October 21.

Belfast City Airport said in a post on X: "Due to the approaching storm, travel disruption is expected across the UK and passengers are advised to check with their airline regarding flight status before travelling to Belfast City Airport."

Dublin Airport shared an update, saying: "The storm is affecting flight operations, with some airlines cancelling a small number of flights in and out of Dublin Airport, while others are experiencing delays."
