On November 20, 2025, Civil Aviation Resource Network reported that, according to the Moscow Times, on November 15, a Rossiya Airlines SSJ100 passenger plane carrying 90 passengers and 5 crew members, flying from Vladivostok to Hailanpao, experienced an engine casing rupture mid-flight, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing in Khabarovsk.
Witnesses reported that part of the aircraft's skin detached during flight.
The Russian Far East Transport Prosecutor's Office stated that the aircraft experienced a "technical malfunction" and landed safely at approximately 9:00 AM local time.
This incident comes amid growing concerns about the state of Russia's civil aviation fleet. Dmitry Yadrov, head of the Russian Federal Aviation Administration, told the Federation Council that by 2030, Russia's civil aviation fleet could lose one-third of its aircraft and 200 helicopters.
At a council meeting on October 7, he also warned that "dozens" of Sukhoi Superjet aircraft might be retired due to engine problems.
The Russian civil aviation system continues to face pressure due to factors such as parts sanctions.
